ReplyDeleteMy favorite notion is the red Wonder Clips from Clover - I use them to hold bindings on; in English Paper Piecing; To hold multiple layers togeter in place of pins; and right now, they are helping me audtion curtain lengths.

ReplyDeleteI use masking tape or painter's tape for hand quilting 1/4" or 1/2" lines... it works very well and doesn't mark the quilt!

I am a new quilter so I love pretty much everything! I just bought my 12 inch square ruler and I love it! I had a 9 inch square and now with my 12 inch square I can easily trim large blocks!

ReplyDeleteIt sounds lame, but my favorite quilting notion is my needle! I like to do paper piecing and applique as well as machine piecing, so I often think I'd be okay if I just had a pair of scissors, a needle, and thread.

I love my seam ripper! It gets a ot of use when I am paper piecing - it is invaluable. I actually have three - two are sort or broken and the third is brand new and SHARP so it depends on what I need to rip out depends on which of the three I use!!!

I'd have to say that it's the ruler, cutter and mat. I can't imagine piecing a quilt without them. My great aunt who was never married pieced quilt tops for a living back in the 50's and 60's and she cut out each piece by hand.

My favorite notion is my Fiskars razor point scissors. They are about the size of your average kindergarten scissors so not too big and not too small, but super duper sharp. I'd love to have them in every room in my house, cuz I'm always wanting to use them, but only for quilting. I also have a Fiskars sharpener to keep them super sharp.. super awesome.

My pin cushion(s). I used to have them sitting on a shelf and poked myself everytime I reached in the pin box for a pin. Then Eureka! I realized what pin cushions are for. I have them scattered all over my sewing space and they all get used.
